Test budget navigator Lexand si-365

There was an opportunity to test the navigator Lexand si-365, I offer an overview of the functions of this device.

    Lots of pictures, be careful.

    Scope of delivery:
The box contains the navigator itself, an instruction manual, a car mount, a cigarette lighter charger, a sync cable, a microSD to SD adapter, a microSD 2Gb card with preinstalled software, a stylus, a bag for carrying and storing the navigator.
    Let's go through the set.

The manual is quite intelligible, understandable to a novice user, in Russian. No questions.

Charger. It is not clear why the kit includes only charging from the cigarette lighter. Yes, it will be the main one, if the navigator is planned to be used only for its intended purpose. If you use the multimedia capabilities of the player, it would be worthwhile to provide for stationary charging. “There is a cable!” You say. Yes, there is a cable, but a USB device usually takes longer to charge than a regular charge, and not everyone has a USB hub. In general, the kit is sufficient, but not redundant.

Sync cable It is a standard mini-USB to USB cable.

Stylus. A plastic pen, standard for a number of similar devices - communicators and PDAs.
Looking ahead, I’ll say about the stylus and design feature of the Lexand si-365. In an effort to make the design of the device close to the iPhone, the developers did not provide a groove for the stylus in the case. At first glance, this is a minus. On the other hand, the stylus in the device will hardly be used. I found him 2 applications - screen calibration, which must be done 1 time, and cuts the device. How often do you make resets to the navigator? For a week of testing, he never hung up with me. So the second function of the stylus is also unlikely to be relevant. It can be put in a bag for carrying the navigator and left in the glove compartment of the car for “every fireman”. The navigator interface allows you to control it with your fingers, so I propose to consider the presence of the stylus in the kit as a nice bonus and a tribute to the memory of old PDA kits.

FROMa memory card and an adapter, everything seems to be clear, an ordinary Transcend card.

My favorite kit item is the car mount . Frankly the weakest element. Unfortunately, I was not able to achieve reliable fastening to the glass of the car.
The reason for this is not the most reliable principle of fastening - the vacuum suction cup must be attached to the glass using the mechanism, when you press the lever. This little lever is the weakest link in the design. When shaking, the suction cup comes off and, together with the mount and the navigator, falls down. It is necessary either to provide some kind of pillow to mitigate falls, or to mount the navigator together with the bracket in another way, on the ventilation grill, for example. For obvious reasons, I did not finish the test kit, I leave this to the discretion of the device users. In principle, nothing complicated should be. I will make a reservation, the reliability of the fastening could be affected by low temperature (cold glass), but the fastening mechanism itself still raises complaints.

About navigation "Progorod" has already been written in sufficient detail by Boomburum, I’ll add a few words from myself.
The program is pleasant, when compared with the most familiar Navitel, in Progorod all settings have fewer levels of nesting, which speeds up the process of laying the route. However, the interface does not seem overloaded. Of course, on a larger screen, everything would look even better, which is taken into account in older Lexand models.

A few screenshots of the Progorod interface: a:

As for this particular device, I will say one thing - the GPS module in it is more sensitive than in my Explay PN-355. Lexand caught several satellites even while indoors (2 floor of a 9-storey brick building). In turn, Explay did not find any in the same room.

    Appearance of the device:
    image

Form factor a la IPhone, screen without borders. The device itself is made quite high quality, does not creak, does not play.

The connector for charging the device and the 2.5mm headphone input are on the right side, they are covered with a rubber plug, the plug does not hang, it closes tightly. A little higher at the same end is a microSD card slot. The card is fixed tightly, sticking out of the slot by 1 mm, is clicked out (on the photo - the card is not completely recessed). In general, the device traces the desire to facilitate the device through the use of smaller elements (2.5 mm connector instead of the standard 3.5 mm, microSD slot instead of SD).

At the top there is a button to turn off the device.
    image

At the back there is a speaker behind the bars and an eyelet for attaching the strap (not included).
In general, I personally would not use this navigator as a portable player - after all, there are more convenient specialized devices for this that do not differ much in cost. In general, I would use the multimedia capabilities of this device only on a long journey, from boredom. And then, if the car is not equipped with a stereo system. The speaker is still not very loud for use on the road. There is no volume rocker, the volume is only adjustable in the menu.

The official price from February for the device Lexand Si-365 3,990rub.

    Pros and cons:
    + compactness
+ support for a large number of formats
    + powerful GPS-module
    + smooth, “licked” design
+ Most of the connectors are standard (miniUSB, microSD), it is easy to pick up a cable and a new card in the event of a breakdown in the complete ones.
+ low cost of the device
+ the possibility of flashing is declared
+ pre-installed software designed in Russia and designed specifically for Russia

    - (?) there is no pencil case for the stylus
    - not a very reliable mounting mechanism
    - the headphone jack is not standard, you will need an adapter that is not included in the package
    - screen not too big, requires a habit

Result:As we can see, the device is quite successfully coping with its basic responsibilities, and the minuses of the device lie in the plane of additional functions and are not the most critical character for everyday use. Great product for its price range.

PS All photos and screenshots of the article in a larger version are available in the album .

Thanks to Lexand for providing the device for testing.
