DbOctopus - SQL Editor with Intelligent Code Completion Support
Somehow, in search of a free editor for working with SQL Server, I came across a DBOctopus program, which is not bad from my point of view. The project was born not so long ago, so I did not expect to see something supernatural. But I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, a lot is still missing, some are inconvenient, but of the significant advantages for me, I can mention the intellectual code completion mentioned in the topic. See how this is implemented in the program . I must say that even in SQL Server Management Studio 2005, there is no such functionality from the well-known Microsoft. It is possible to export sample results to such tect formats as xml, html, Excel, pdf and tect format. Pleased with convenient export to Excel. The program very well draws up the result in the final xls file with column headers. Another plus is the ability to quickly filter query results without changing the SQL code. In a special field in the results window, the filtering criterion is simply entered and the program does the rest. Very comfortably. Here you can see how it looks.
Advantages include responsiveness of developers to letters with requests for improving the functionality of the program.
Of the significant shortcomings of the program can be noted the inability to fully service SQL Server. For the time being, DbOctopus can only work with tables, views, and procedures. For administration you will have to use a tool from Microsoft - SQL Server Management Studio.
As for query processing and writing SQL code, the program copes with the tasks with a bang.
