Features of installing OpenVPN GUI under Windows 7
The other day I needed to configure the client part of OpenVPN on a computer with Windows 7 installed.
I foresaw problems and therefore immediately google on this topic. I found some tips, the essence of which was that there are few differences from installing on Vista, and the main thing is to set the compatibility mode with Vista in advance, as well as launch as administrator.
I’ll make a reservation right away - because of my laziness, I’m using the OpenVPN GUI option, which I really liked about the practice of using it on Windows XP / 2003.
I made the proposed actions and started the installation. At first glance, everything is fine, but it doesn’t work :(. It’s useful to understand - Windows 7 cannot launch the TAP / TUN v8 virtual network card driver necessary for OpenVPN to work.
But Google was silent about this. By means of simple logical constructions, I decided to roll over the installation OpenVPN GUI original version of OpenVPN Because looking at the contents of the installer OpenVPN saw that there is a newer version of the driver v9..
Actually in this and fairy tales end - after setting the GUI OpenVPN OpenVPN over all wound up with a half-turn and glad stable performance and etc. . this day,
I hope this brief story will save someone's nerves :)
