IOI-2009: another triumph of Genes Korotkevich

    14-year-old Belarusian prodigy Gennady Korotkevich continues the triumphal procession at world programming competitions. He wins almost all the competitions in which he participates.

    Korotkevich’s next achievement was the 21st World School Programming Olympiad ( IOI-2009 ), which took place on August 8-15 in Bulgarian Plovdiv. For the third year in a row, Gennady Korotkevich won a gold medal there, and this time he became the absolute champion - the youngest in the 21-year history of the competition.     In 2006, for the first time participating in the international school Olympiad, the 11-year-old Belarusian won only silver (he did not have six points to the gold medal). After that, Gene did not allow failures.

    Gennady Korotkevich graduated from the 8th grade of the gymnasium No. 56 of the city of Gomel. After IOI-2009, he can follow the path of Sino-Australian geek Terence Tao , who won the gold of the Olympics at age 12 and enrolled in college the next year, and at age 24 he became professor of mathematics at the University of California (UCLA).
