What is dNaNo?

dNaNo is the name of the 1:43 scale series of radio-controlled car models made by the Japanese company Kyosho. The first production model was shown to the public in April 2008. dNaNo is a radio-controlled chassis with a plastic case, which is a copy of a sports car. dNaNo fits easily in the palm of an adult.

The model is 10 cm long and weighs 40 grams with a battery.

Despite such a small size, the dNaNo chassis has a design that is used in larger car models. DNaNo has front spring shock absorbers, a satellite differential, a rear suspension shock absorber, etc. The car has proportional control over two channels (gas brake and wheel rotation left and right). Many car parts can be replaced or tuned. The dNaNo transmitter operates in the 2.4GHz frequency range and is powered by four rechargeable batteries or AAA batteries. The dNaNo chassis is powered by a 3.7V 130mAh Li-polymer battery, which lasts for 15-20 minutes of active driving. The speed of the model as standard 13-15 km / h. A microchip is built into the model to determine the lap time along the track, but a device for reading the result (serif) must be purchased separately.

When buying dNaNo, you should pay attention to the fact that the chassis with the body is supplied separately from the control equipment. The transmitter, batteries, charger must be purchased separately.

The universal dNaNo transmitter can be used to control the Mini-Z series of radio-controlled car models with electronics operating in the 2.4GHz frequency range.

    Varieties of dNaNo

Today, 3 types of dNaNo chassis are produced, which differ from each other by the location of the engine relative to the differential:

MM - the motor is located in front of the differential axis

RM - the motor is located behind the differential axis
    image
HM- motor is located above the differential axis

    Design dNaNo

A servo mechanism is hidden in the front of the chassis, which, with the help of a steel steering rack, turns two cams on which the front wheels are attached with very small screws. On wheels put on tires made of rubber.

Inside the dNaNo case is a receiver with a speed controller on a single board. Outside the housing, connectors for connecting a motor, a gyroscope (purchased separately) and a connector for programming dNaNo electronics via a computer are displayed.

Under the chassis housing cover is a removable lithium-polymer battery in a shockproof plastic casing.

Using a flexible plate, the rear suspension - the engine mount - is attached to the chassis body. The flexible mount plate is a shock absorber for the rear suspension.

In the engine mount is a collector motor, on the shaft of which a drive gear from Delrin is put on. The dNaNo kit contains 4 gears (6,7,8,9 teeth) that can be changed. The differential is inserted into the holes of the plastic bushings on the engine mount. The rear wheels are mounted on the differential with small screws.

On the bottom of the case there is a unique blue chip with an RFID tag to determine the distance it takes to travel on the track. The device (serif) for reading RFID tag information installed on the dNaNo case is a flat antenna made of wires, which is placed under the track and connected to a computer. The serif for dNaNo is available only from Kyosho and must be purchased separately.

    Body dNaNo

The body for dNaNo is made of durable plastic, painted and varnished. The commendable copying of the body does not in any way increase weight or reduce its strength. Some bodies look more reliable bench analogues. Kyosho has the right to accurately copy the symbols and appearance of the most famous cars in the world, thanks to agreements with auto concerns. Currently, the company has already released the bodies of Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia, Mazda, McLaren, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru. Kyosho expands its dNaNo body collection every month.

    DNaNo control transmitter

DNaNo is controlled by a two-channel “pistol type” transmitter - Perfex KT-18.

The transmitter operates in the frequency range 2.4GHz. The remote control is usually held in the left hand. The index finger of the left hand pulls the trigger, which is responsible for the gas, brake and reverse model. The steering wheel on the remote control is turned with the right hand, which is responsible for turning the model left or right. The remote control has an antenna, a switch button and a trim button for the model (fine-tuning the angles of rotation of the wheels, and adjusting the gas and brake modes). At the bottom of the remote control handle there is a compartment for four rechargeable batteries or AAA batteries. To control dNaNo, you can use transmitters from other manufacturers ... more

    Tuning dNaNo

Instead of the parts that are installed on the standard dNaNo, you can purchase optional (tuning) parts that can dramatically change the characteristics of the model. With the help of tuning parts, dNaNo can be turned into a sports model, which can compete on the highway with models of a larger scale (for example: Mini-Z ). Tuning parts are produced by both Kyosho and other manufacturers.

Using the optional XSpeed engine, the speed of the model can be increased one and a half to two times.

    image

Using the optional ball differential, you can more flexibly adjust the dynamics of the model during acceleration. Using the carbon mount plates of the engine mount of different stiffness, you can adjust the shock absorption of the rear suspension. Optional springs with different stiffness allow you to change the degree of shock absorption of the front suspension. dNaNo is a fairly fast model, which is very difficult to control when reaching maximum speed. To increase the stability of the model on straight sections of the route, it makes sense to purchase a gyroscope, which is connected to a special connector on the chassis. To increase the reliability of the chassis, you can purchase an optional mounting bracket for rotary cams and rims with aluminum mount. Instead of plastic bushings, ball bearings can be installed.
