Apple moves 5th in US computer market share
IDC released a report on computer sales in the US market in the second quarter of 2009. A significant drop in sales compared to last year was shown by Apple and Dell, whose sales fell by 12.4% and 18.9%, respectively. After this fall, Apple as a computer manufacturer fell from fourth place (in the first quarter of 2009) to fifth in the total share of sales in the United States. A year ago, Apple was in third place. Apple's market share fell from 8.5% to 7.6% of the total market.
Some analysts are inclined to believe that the drop in Apple's sales is due to Microsoft's aggressive advertising company and the poor economic situation in the last quarter of 2009.
