Project Manager Weekly Checklist

Here such a list was found once in one long-abandoned blog of an English-speaking project manager. Unfortunately, the blog address has long been lost, but the list itself, with minor corrections, turned out to be very useful in my work - I review it weekly. It helps to put thoughts and information on the project in order.

    • How much time do I spend solving problems? My job is to prevent them. What can I do to find the source of the problem or prevent it?
    • Are there new risks? Are existing risks close to their implementation? Are there any undocumented uncertainties? Has the importance of risk changed?
    • Is everyone busy? Does everyone know about the date of the current release of the version? Do you know the date of completion of the next stage? Everyone should know EXACTLY what they should work on and what they are responsible for.
    • Did I say NO this week? People always want to add functionality to a project. I should not let them do this (usually). See that the team is not involved in perfectionism and embellishment.
    • Are there any delays? With the help of the team, change the plan to achieve the milestones.
    • Has there been contact with all project managers and customers this week? Communication is the key to success. Do they know their roles? Are we expecting anything from them in the near future? Check communication plan!
    • Is quality control carried out?
    • Does everyone who needs to work on the project work on it this week?
    • What have I done this week to improve team cohesion?
    • Is the weekly work plan realistic? Are the estimates for all tasks kept within 40-80 hours? Are the ratings accepted by the performers themselves?
    • Do all people have everything necessary to complete the work on time (do they need information or do they depend on the results of other people)?
    • Did I update the problem log? Risk log?
    • What does the team think / feel this week about our goals and the project itself? Have they approved the work plan? Will they approve him right now?
    • Are there any requests or suggestions for changes that require evaluation or approval before we implement them?
    • Are there any conflicts that need to be resolved?
    • Are there any major issues to tackle? What about minor issues?
