Visual Studio 2010 launched on my HP Mini
- Transfer
Before my trip to India, I bought a netbook HP Mini 2140 . This is a wonderful thing. It weighs only 1.8 kg. It supports a maximum resolution of 1024 x 576 (normal in width but shortened in height). It has a keyboard of almost normal size. My favorite feature is that it can work for about 8 hours - which is pretty long.
It comes preloaded with Windows XP. But I downloaded and installed Windows 7RC on it . There are no DVDs or CDs in the mini. I copied the Windows 7 image to a USB flash drive using Daemon Tools. And installed Windows 7 from a USB flash drive .
Next, I installed Windows Live Sync(also known as foldershare). Windows Live Sync syncs files from the My Documents \ Everywhere folder between my laptop, desktop and netbook. I can change documents on my netbook in a Microsoft bus moving to work, later they are automatically synchronized with the computer at my workplace.
And finally, I installed Visual Studio 2010 on my netbook. I took build messages. Most likely my netbook does not fit even the minimum required configuration, however Visual Studio 2010 works just fine.
I'm not sure that when running Visual Studio on a netbook, the Atom processor of my HP Mini squeezes everything out of the netbook. And, definitely, you should not run several applications when running Visual Studio. However, this example shows that you can quite productively spend time spent on an airplane or bus for development.
During the installation of VS2010 there was even such a moment when it seemed to me that it would end in failure, as the installer reported that my netbook did not fit the minimum permission requirements (the height turned out to be 3 pixels less than the required), however, I ignored the warning and the installation continued successfully.
Well, the fact that Visual Studio 2010 was launched on a netbook, is looking forward to Mon, May 18, to merge beta 1 .
