Perhaps this is just a hype around such services, but there is still a rational grain in it, I would hope.
Sometimes you want to throw a link to the topic on Twitter and thereby attract other people to the discussion, but due to the fact that, as a rule, the URL is long, you have to make unnecessary gestures from the minimum click on the bookmarklet or on the icon with the address bar (extension for FF ), to a long journey with copy-paste ...
Many sites such as PollDaddy or GetSatisfaction have a built-in function to shorten the links for publishing on Twitter and similar services.
Habrahabr has a domain habr.ru, which would be perfect for this. As far as I can tell, the creation of such a service is not too troublesome, but very useful.
