Alternative iTunes for Mac OS Users
I’m already waiting for an iTunes fan to throw me slippers, but as long as I don’t sit on Mac OS - I can’t get myself to use iTunes, I don’t like such a monstrous product, the developer of which imposes very big restrictions on its functionality, and the functionality is there there is used by me on the strength of 20-30%. Well, I think that those who are not comfortable with something in iTunes will understand me, but a fan probably should pass by, and not minus the post.
Unfortunately, there are not so many adequate alternatives, one of the most sane players is Cog , but today I would like to talk about such a player as Songbird , maybe someone already knows him, had experience in communication, but for someone I’ll try tell his pros and cons.

A product from Mozilla, and that’s already said a lot. The player is open-sourced and cross-platform, of the key features I want to note the following things:
- support for 25 languages (including Russian)
- support for FLAC (for me personally, this is one of the arguments, because there are not many plugins for Tuna for me they didn’t inspire)
- a full-fledged mozilla-like browser (although in my opinion this is just its main minus, but apparently the developers tried to stand out)
- “watching the media library”, a function that I did not find in any player for Mac OS, in my opinion it is very necessary if you want to have order in the structures e files and folders
- open platform, i.e. community of developers who constantly come up with and implement something
- a fairly large number of plug-ins for the player
Now about the plug-ins, masthead:
Apple Keyboard Media Key Support
Mac Remote Control Support
FocusTrack
I think in the translation or description these plug-ins are not required, from the names everything is clear what and why.
According to my personal feelings, there are small brakes (I associate this with the Last.fm plug-in, everything was much faster before installing it)
Result: if during installation everything was turned off, such as Concert Tickets (although the trick is interesting, though not for Russia), SHOUTcast Radio and other garbage, you can get a very convenient, custom player, sharpened specifically for adequate music playback and nothing more.
ps why I do not use the same Cog, which is easier and more polished, this is due to the lack of the following functions that are so interesting to me:
- "watch the library"
- albumart
- rating
I hope for someone it will all be interesting.
Thank you so much for your attention.
PPS if I will "enjoy popularity" I will transfer to Apple or Mac OS
