Turbo is now in Opera main code

Today, Opera developers announced the availability of a new assembly of Opera 10. The main innovations of this version: a new location of installation files and profile files, a new spellchecker, a system for generating crash logs are also ported to the Linux version, as well as Opera Turbo, which is included in the main Opera code.

For those who are not yet in the know, I remind you that Opera Turbo is a feature that appeared in the previous experimental assembly of Opera 10, the essence of which is to speed up page loading by pre-compressing pages and images. For this, the same servers are used that are used to operate Opera Mini.

What is new in this assembly?
    • New, experimental Opera Turbo mode: automatic. In this mode, Opera monitors the quality of the connection, and if it decides that the connection is slow, Turbo turns on. If Opera decides that the connection is fast enough, Turbo mode will be turned off. Of course, you can choose whether to use this mode or not.
    • Fixed errors with loading images
    • Fixed bugs with gmail
    • Fixed display of channels for subscribing to rss
    • Fixed a bug with entering Cyrillic characters that appeared in the last experimental build of the Linux version
    • Increased productivity
    • New spell checking engine. Now, hunspell is used as the engine , which seems to be smarter and more compatible with different dictionaries.
    • Now the Linux version of Opera generates a crash log in case of a crash. Developers are asked to send them such logs. Thanks to this, a number of errors have already been fixed; now we can expect improved stability in the Linux version.
    • In order to unify, the names of configuration files and some paths have been changed. Now, regardless of the system used, all configuration files have the same name.
The following errors may occur due to new changes:
    • The disappearance from the cache of all site icons
    • Cleaning speeddial
    • Loss of ad blocker rules
    • Spell checking may not work. You need to move the dictionary files to new places. On Windows: C: \ Program Files \ Opera 10 \ locale \ ru \, on Linux: / usr / share / opera / locale / ru / (where ru is the name of the dictionary language).
It was also found that a number of Yandex services, for example, mail.yandex.ru, do not work in this build in Turbo mode.

Attention! Be sure to backup the Opera configuration folder
