American scientists, by analyzing simple statistics, came to the conclusion that the average IT worker takes home about 19,000 items of computer components over a 10-year period of work. Punishment for such misconduct: a year or two of imprisonment, plus a fine, adequate to the cost of technology.

It is this fate that awaits Victor Papagno, a former employee of the US Naval Laboratory. The 40-year-old specialist who worked for the government from 1997 to 2007 brought an amazing amount of equipment and components from the workplace: more than 100 personal computers (system unit + monitor). Moreover, most of the iron was in working condition, at home Victor collected computers and used them for his own purposes.

Obviously, the "random attacker" did not expect to get any money from the sale of computers, but the authorities now speak of $ 120,000 damage to the government.
