Anti-piracy gang launches its own video download site to catch users

Media Defender , the notorious anti-piracy gang working for MPAA (American Film Association), RIAA (American Sound Recording Association) and several other independent media companies, has launched its own service for downloading miivi.com videos. The sole purpose of the site is to trick people into downloading material protected by copyright law and arrest them for it.

Media Defender is known for its unclean tactics. In addition to launching their service, they also involve people in downloading fake torrents, collecting their IP addresses and sending complaints to providers.

Fortunately, most of these fake trackers are already blocked by special software like PeerGuardian. However, they manage to collect the IP addresses of thousands of users who nevertheless fall into their trap.

Now they want to do the same with the fake video download service. They registered a new domain and launched a Web 2.0-style site called miivi.com . Miivi offers high-speed access to blockbusters such as 300 Spartans (don’t download), attracting people to download copyrighted content.

Apparently, letters of demand to stop the work that they send to users of P2P networks and sites for sharing videos, such as YouTube, are not enough. At the end of the article, a screenshot of the WHOIS website information is attached, it speaks for itself. It doesn't matter how bad piracy may seem to some people, but they SHOULD NOT fight it this way.

Here's what I propose: upload and download as much legal content as possible with the name "THIS SITE IS SUBSTITUTE" , see if their servers can handle it.

Update: Miivi lies, apparently our plan worked ...

Update: they changed the WHOIS information .
