Opening the blog “Technology for the Good”
Hello dear habravchane!
For a long time I "threatened" to create a blog dedicated to people with disabilities. Yes, there wasn’t enough time. This time, my hands, however, got to a long-planned idea and began to write.
I especially think this is relevant against the background of the fact that Habré rarely touched on topics related to people with disabilities or people with disabilities. I don’t know why it happened. Either we, who consider ourselves healthy people, are embarrassed by this and are afraid, or it doesn’t bother us much until we come across this in the circle of our family or close friends.
Nevertheless, over the past two months, the number of articles devoted to such people on Habré has grown significantly. A topic has appeared about the technology of controlling the mouse cursor with the help of a look . There was a recent note aboutharmful captcha , which a healthy person can hardly take apart. What can we say about people with vision problems. If the only problem these people are captcha ... Then all was just great ...
There was an article about and portal for people with disabilities. Of course, this is a laudable thing. Only it seems to me that you need not to divide people into healthy and disabled people, but try to give them the opportunity to feel like the rest. Provide the opportunity to become part of the "healthy Runet." Give them the opportunity to enjoy the same resources that you use. To optimize the interface a bit, increase the text, write the correct tags in HTML, and a person can participate in discussions on entertaining topics with the same success as healthy people like us. They are not lepers in order to separate from them. It was just that their health failed a little or a disaster happened, and it became difficult for them to remain part of society, since it did not care about them.
CurlyBrace CurlyBrace, inspired by the London media conference , revealed in“Habracaste” about new developments and optimization of HTML-code for the blind. It was after his story about such a new direction as optimization for people with disabilities, I realized that this topic is practically unfamiliar to residents. And this means that in RuNet, most sites are designed only for completely healthy people.
Even if you are of little interest to “people with problems”, I can single out at least one benefit for you from the whole process of optimizing text and code. Which one? Did you know that according to unofficial data, every fourth person sitting at a computer has deviations that, to one degree or another, may limit its capabilitieson the Internet on non-optimized resources. It turns out that with a little effort, you can increase the number of unique visitors to the resource by 25% !!! Not bad, is it?
Whatever it is and whatever it is for itself to decide, this post I open the blog “Technology for the Good.” In it, I want to raise discussion and advice on optimizing HTML code, user interface, design and compilation of texts. In fact, the W3C even has a whole section dedicated to people with disabilities and people with disabilities. From it you, without any articles on Habré, will be able to learn the most important points in the process of writing code.
Also, I would like to see in this blog all kinds of advanced technologies and gadgets helping such people. I happened to visit several small exhibitions dedicated to this, so I hope to find the time and acquaint you with such devices. It will also be interesting for me to read about the development of such technologies myself. I invite all the residents of the city who have this kind of useful information to write on this blog.
Let's help others while we have the opportunity! Maybe later, someone will help us.
