Non-profit website, does it make sense to change the outdated design?
Firstly, I want to clarify, this is not so much the PR site that I accompany as the question to the reading public, is it worth changing the obviously outdated and archaic design of the site, provided that the site has its own audience, the site performs its function, and there are very few resources to carry out the alteration (in fact, I alone). I warn you right away, a site with religious content, so I ask those who may dislike it, don’t go under the habra-kat, okay?
For those who decided to look further, I want to note that I personally am not a designer at all, I have been working with Oracle RDBMS since 1994, and recently I have been heading the software development department. This is worth considering when criticizing.
So, the site was ordered for $ 300 a long time from designers, they naturally left a link to the site, but inside I was decisively redrawn, as needed. Now the site is spinning on perl + mysql + bash (yes yes :) + files. In some places I screwed the “typograph” from Lebedev’s studio. I attached some CSS and a bunch of little things.
What I don't like: "brick" (inextensible layout), mysql (well, I am an oracle), bash and perl. I’m thinking about moving the whole thing to Oracle XE, it’s free, and it’s nice to me personally. But I won’t stop with the engine in any way, since all this is hosted under my Debian home, then I can put anything you want (oh, horror, but if I have the habr effect ???). The people, advise, it makes sense to harness themselves to such an alteration? Or is design still not worth changing for the sake of design?
And of course the link to the site: Temple in the name of the Icon of the Mother of God “Sovereign” (Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God)
