Do you consider the use of external factors affecting the results of search engine results as a promising new business?
Habrahabr!
I know that the topic is ambiguous and SE has already banned me hard for it (as a result I found out that they don’t like such topics there), but the idea of the topic has been in the air for a long time. And I want to discuss it with the community. Please do not judge strictly.
It has long been believed that for external factors the site is not banned, etc. but my experience tells me that everything is far from the case. There are many examples of how competitors pushed sites from the top ten to last places on high and mid-frequency queries.
There are a lot of ways, but they are based on the fact that making a site a victim in the eyes of search engines is a malicious intruder.
The method is based on massive link spam from forums, guestbooks, blogs, etc. The main thing is that all these links appear massively, in a short period of time and at the same time be composed in terms of maximum discrepancy with the recommendations of search engines.
Such a victim site is unlikely to get banned, but it’s elementary to fly away from its position. Moreover, the duration of such a drawdown is from several days to months.
What is the result?
As a result, if the site is commercial, then this is a loss of profit. At the same time, if the competitor’s site was on the 2-3 page of issue, then the competitor is improving his position according to his requests. For example, imagine that the victim site was in 3rd place, and the competitor site was 11. The victim site flies out of the top, and the competitor's site is in the top ten. Well, where there is money, a business appears that serves this money.
And all this without interference on the site of the victim. No DDoSs, etc. illegal things naturally.
Actually, the question is: do you think that in the near future the attack on competitors' websites will become a new type of business? Will there be firms and private individuals for whom this will be the main income?
On the topic launched a blog: sitedown.ruon which I describe interesting cases of attacks and sanctions by search engines for external factors.
Who cares - we can continue the discussion there, if I don’t fit with this topic in the Habr format :)
Good luck in business and good mood!
