Sony's 35.8mm 24.81MP CMOS Sensor
Sony, following Canon and Nikon, introduced a full-frame image sensor corresponding to a frame size of 35 mm. The new 24.81-megapixel CMOS-sensor is capable of up to 6.3 frames per second, which is a fairly high indicator, considering the matrix resolution is by no means low.
According to Sony, the new sensor will provide shooting with less noise, which is achieved due to the new analog-to-digital converter (Column-Parallel A / D Conversion Technique) scheme, in which each column of photosensitive elements has its own converter.
Sony is about to launch new sensors in the third quarter of 2008.
