Miro player developers ask for money for democracy

One of the most promising and technologically advanced projects in the field of Internet television Miro (formerly Democracy Player) turned to all users for help . Developers from the non-profit organization PCF admitted that their financial resources are coming to an end. They set a goal to raise $ 50,000 in September. The money will go to pay for the services of talented hackers who will do regular software updates for Windows, Linux and Mac. In the very near future the first official release of the program will be released, which however, and now works fine in version 0.9.9.1 ( download ).

The creators of Miro explain how important their development is for humanity: “Large corporations spend millions of dollars trying to create a monopoly in the field of Internet video and restrict their users' access to video materials. "They want to force all creators to use their proprietary software and implement Digital Rights Management (DRM) to limit the ability of people." The Miro player is the exact opposite; it supports free video playback in any format, subscription to RSS-videos from Youtube and 1,500 other sources (new channels are added every day), downloading files using the BitTorrent protocol.

Since the request for help was published three days ago, more than $ 5,000 has been raised. You can make a donation by credit card, via Paypal or Google Checkout.
