Rambler Media is getting ready to buy big
Rambler Media intends to acquire two new businesses. The Company entered into a preliminary agreement with the holding eHouse to buy 51% stake in the social network Damochka.Ru and banner exchange system BannerBank - one of the oldest in RuNet.
According to the agreement, eHouse owns 49% of the shares of each of the projects, but Rambler Media has an option - the right to buy or sell assets for a certain price. The parties did not disclose the amount of the transaction, however, according to market participants, it could be up to $ 1 million.
Damochka.Ru, a portal popular in the Russian-speaking Internet community, determines its audience size to approximately 1.8 million registered users, of which about 700 thousand are active. Vladislav Kochetkov, the head of the press service of Finam CJSC , believes that Rambler buys Damochka, based on commercial considerations, and with the traffic support of the new owner, the resource has good prospects. In the meantime, "Damochka" - the site, in his opinion, is still "niche" - compared to the performance of the dating portal Mamba.Ru , partially owned by Finam, the attendance of Damochka is 30 times less.
According to Kochetkov, the purchase of the BannerBank banner system is dictated by other motives: “Most likely, Rambler will advertise itself.” After all, access to sites with a wide audience is mostly controlled by other players - Yandex and Mail.Ru , and nobody will let Rambler go there. Therefore, BannerBank was selected with its coverage in 60% of the Runet audience.
“Damochka.Ru is a pretty nice live resource, although I think it doesn’t make a lot of money at the moment, but it has potential,” says Anna Artamonova, Mail.Ru’s vice president of marketing and PR. - It will be interesting to see how the Rambler manages to "separate" it with its own "Planet", since projects, in my opinion, are essentially competitors to each other. As for Bannerbank, it’s a very old, neglected, half dead project. In my opinion, it will be rather difficult to reanimate and bring it to a decent appearance. It is unlikely that Rambler plans to seriously engage in its development, most likely they will simply use the remnants of its advertising opportunities to promote their projects. ”
Recall, Rambler Media is an integrated media company that provides Internet, mobile and television services to a Russian-speaking audience. The Rambler Media group of companies includes the Internet portal and search engine Rambler.Ru , the TV channel Rambler , the information site Lenta.Ru, Rambler Telecom Internet Service Provider, Index20 Advertising Agency , and Rambler Interactive, a group of mobile technology and content companies.
