I actively use my right to increase karma, so from my own experience I propose the following:
1. Somehow designate the user so that it can be seen whether you voted for his karma or not. There are more and more active habra-people, and remembering whose karma you have already influenced is impossible. I have to climb into the profile. I quite often began to stumble on the fact that I had already voted.
How this may look in practice, let those who like my offer like it say. I don’t know myself which is better (and / or) easier: to show that I voted, or to show even HOW I voted.
2. My second sentence, probably, will seem strange to many, but I would like to have the option “hide karma”, ie I would be happy to hide my karma. A rating will remain.
PS You know, I myself am terribly ashamed that I am turning up the topic of Habr again, but what can I do, this project is interesting in itself.
I would also like to remind you that sooner or later my offer will affect many, because people with karma arrive :)
