Firefox 2 RC1 release candidate lingers a week

The first of the three planned release candidates for Firefox 2 was made publicly available yesterday, September 27th. Versions for Windows, Mac and Linux are available in 38 languages, including Russian and Belarusian.

Like some previous versions of the free browser, Firefox 2.0 comes out later. It was originally planned that the final release would take place on August 15, 2006, but failed to meet deadlines. According to the new schedule , the official release was scheduled for October 25, 2006, and three release candidates were due to appear on September 20, October 3, and October 12. But now it’s clear that the deadlines have moved a week. Thus, the final release will probably appear earlier than November 1, 2006.
