Disney lets you stroll through the Millennium Falcon in the Disney Movies VR app.
Yesterday, Disney Interactive released the free Disney Movies VR app on Steam, available to owners of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. After installation, users of virtual reality helmets can stroll through the locations of the famous fantastic universes.
Currently available worlds and locations from the "Book of the Jungle", "Captain America: Civil War" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The Disney Movies VR application does not provide access to the full versions of these films, instead it offers a virtual stroll through several locations made as short animated scenes.
For Disney, this is the first application after closing its own studio Avalanche Software last week. None of the former Disney development teams are listed in the Disney Movies VR Developer List. The application itself has nothing to do with the game Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine for ILMxLab virtual reality helmets, which is due out this year.
Recently, Facebook has been actively promotingOculus Rift, and cooperation with Disney looks quite logical against this background. Considering the availability of Disney projects like Star Wars: Battlefront, which will receive PlayStation VR support this year, it’s not surprising why Facebook decided to start a partnership with the film studio right now.
