Powerpack 2 differs from its predecessor by a serious optimization of its design. Due to the revision of the implementation of modules and internal electronics, the company's engineers managed to double the energy storage density, according to the company's official blog .

In addition, Powerpack 2 is compatible with the new inverter, the production of which is planned at Tesla's “Gigafabrika” for the production of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

The Powerpack and Powerwall projects were launched as commercial backup power systems for households and businesses. The main motivation to create such a product was the desire of Ilona Mask and Tesla Motors to gain a foothold in the market for the production and development of batteries.
