Blue Origin will arrange a crash for your New Shepard spacecraft during the next launch

Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin company has introduced a planned crash into the launch schedule for the New Shepard spacecraft. During the next launch, it is planned to split the passenger capsule, which is located at the top of the rocket, and is separated after going into space. Of course, there will be no passengers in the capsule, so no one will suffer.

“During the next mission, we plan to test the passenger capsule by landing it with a deliberately failed parachute to demonstrate our ability to withstand crashes. This should be an impressive demonstration, ”Bezos said.

The capsule of the spacecraft is designed to accommodate 6 people. The launch vehicle New Shepard is designed to carry "space tourists". The capsule is equipped with large portholes so that people inside can enjoy the views. The cost of space travel on this ship has not yet been disclosed. The development of the system began by Blue Origin in 2006. At the same time, the company acquired a land plot of about 770 km² in the state of Texas to build a launch complex and other structures. The test flight of the first prototype took place in 2006.

The company managed to make several successful rocket launches with the return of both the rocket itself and the passenger capsule.

During the new launch, not only the impact resistance of the capsule will be tested. The team is also going to perform “several capsule and rocket maneuvers” in order to understand how the spacecraft behaves in different conditions. “The cornerstone of Blue Origin is rocket safety, strength and stability. Each successful mission gives us the opportunity to study and improve our missiles ... ”, Bezos said.

Since November 2015, the New Shepard rocket took off and landed three times.
