The new filter is able to save the owner of the Model X in the case of the use of biological weapons

Tesla tested its HEPA-filter in “combat conditions”

When Tesla presented its Model X (and Model S) electric car, company representatives said that the efficiency of the HEPA filter is extremely high. According to the developers, this filter can protect people from the effects of biological weapons. Many were skeptical of this statement, and the company decided to conduct an open filter test.

Thus, the electric car was placed in a polyethylene bubble, the air in which was very polluted (the EPA norm was 83 times higher). It is about suspension of microscopic droplets of liquid and solid substances in the air, with a concentration of 1000 mg / m 3. After the car was placed in such conditions, the experts turned on Bioweapon Defense Mode. The results were very interesting.

According to the experts who conducted the experiment, the concentration of pollutants in the car remained below the maximum permissible concentration. The experts, who were sitting in the cabin of a car in gas masks, took off their masks and breathed without protective devices. Another interesting fact is that after a while the concentration of pollutants in and around the car decreased by 40% - the filter effectively did its job, filtering a large amount of pollutants .

Now the work of specialists continues, and the filters are planned to be made even more efficient in order to improve the quality of both the main and secondary filters.

As for biological warfare, hopefully this will not happen. But here in cities like Beijing, Mexico City, Berlin, Paris, such a car with a HEPA-filter would be very useful. In these cities, the level of air pollution is extremely high (in Beijing - 56 mg / m 3 , Mexico City - 25 mg / m 3 , Berlin - 20 mg / m 3 ). Therefore, air cleaning is already a necessity. True, cheap protection can not be called - the cost of the same Tesla Model X is about $ 126,000 for the basic version.
