The Indian government wants to transfer the entire country to electric transport by 2030. To this end, the government is preparing a program whereby citizens can take electric cars on credit without a down payment, and pay for them with the money they would otherwise spend on gasoline.

India ranks sixth in the world in oil consumption, while its own production covers only a quarter of needs . The country imports most of the scarce raw materials.

The government is carrying ambitious plans to distribute electric vehicles, relying on the experience of replacing lamps with energy-saving light bulbs based on LEDs. The high cost of LED-lamps was compensated by government subsidies and a centralized distribution system - retailers did not wind their profits on them, and it was also possible to pay for light bulbs in installments. It is now planned to distribute energy-efficient fans and air conditioners.

The problem is the lack of electricity in many poor villages. The government estimates that approximately 50 million households still do not have access to electricity.

It is not entirely clear whether Indians will switch to electric motorcycles instead of gasoline ones. Electric motorcycles are still a wonder, and at the same time in Asia, two-wheeled vehicles are the most popular means of transportation.
