Snom M300 Base DECT Station and M215 Kit Overview

In the fall, we talked about a whole series of Snom's M-series devices for creating DECT networks. A large M700 station was described there, but such devices are redundant for small offices / shops / cafes and other small businesses. But in this niche, the Snom M300 station, which was left overboard of that article, and the completely new Snom M200 novelty, perfectly settled.
Snom m300
Since the Snom M300 is the "younger brother" of the M700, it would be logical to compare some of their parameters.

So, the M300 is designed to create a DECT network in a relatively small area. Like the 700th model, the “three hundred” has a maximum range of up to 50 m indoors and up to 300 m in open space. But this is in ideal conditions, in practice, range depends on the materials and the thickness of the walls and floors.
At the same time, the M300 can support up to 20 Snom M25, M65 and M85 DECT tubes(M700 - up to 30 any). At the same time, supported SIP accounts are also 20. Moreover, the M300 cannot be combined into multi-mesh networks, and this is an important difference from the oldest model. If the M700 can be connected to each other in tens and hundreds, creating coverage in very large areas and serving a total of up to 1000 handsets, then the M300 is a “lone hero”. However, you can expand the coverage area of this station with the help of M5 repeaters , which can connect up to three pieces. At the same time, the M300 can handle up to 5 calls (M700 - up to 5 broadband or up to 10 standard. The M300 also supports broadband).

For connecting to an Ethernet network, the M300 is equipped with an RJ45 port. The hardware reset button is not forgotten.
Configuration and updates are performed over the network via the web interface. There is no built-in subscriber book in the M300 (in the M700 - for 200 subscribers).
The station supports all necessary protocols:
- SIP (RFC3261)
- DHCP, NTP
- HTTP / HTTPS / TFTP
- LDAP
The list of supported codecs is even larger than the M700:
- G711 A-law, µlaw
- G722 (Broadband)
- G726
- G729 (A / AB including VAD)
Security in the M300 is supported by wireless DECT encryption, TLS, SRTP (RFC3711), SIPS and password protection for the station management web interface. Snom M300 is compatible with all major IP PBX systems, including those based on Broadsoft and Asterisk.
The station is powered by a 5 V power supply; its overall dimensions are 178 x 120 x 30 mm.

Also, this station can be purchased in the M325 kit, which, in addition to the M300 itself, includes the Snom M25 DECT phone. It is described in detail in one of the previous publications devoted to devices of the M series.
Snom m215
This kit consists of the Snom M200SC base station and the M15SC DETC tube.

M200 in its capabilities is more modest than M300. Up to 6 DECT tubes can be connected to it at the same time; the same number of SIP accounts are supported by it. The station can handle up to 4 simultaneous calls.
The range of the M200SC is standard, up to 50 m in ideal conditions. It can be powered both from the power supply and through PoE.

On the front panel there is a button for searching for a DECT handset: when you click on it, the phone starts ringing.

At the back is an RJ45 connector for connecting to a 10/100 BASE-T network.

The M200SC has a built-in phone book with 200 numbers, the same number of entries in the call log. The device is configured completely over the network, through a password-protected web interface. The station supports wireless firmware updates, has the functions of internal communication (within the local network) and three-way conference calling. Able to forward and hold calls.
M200SC is compatible with GAP devices and the Asterisk platform. The sound quality of the M200 is not worse than that of the more advanced M300, supported audio codecs:
- G.711 a-law, u-law
- G.722
- G.726
- G.729
- ILBC
List of supported communication protocols:
- SIP (RFC3261)
- HTTP / HTTPS / TFTP / FTP
- DHCP, NTP, SNTP, STUN, VLAN
- RTP / SRTP
- IPv4 / IPv6
- LDAP
Security is not “prejudiced” either: М200SC supports a whole array of security tools, including TLS, AES encryption, LLDP-MED, 802.1x and 802.1pq.
The M15SC included with the M215 was one of the simplest Snom products. This is a reliable "workhorse", suitable for any organization, and even for use at home.

The phone is equipped with a display with a diagonal of 1.7 inches and a resolution of 90 x 65 pixels. The top line is usually used to place information icons, and the bottom is given under the indication of the values of two function keys located directly below the display.

The keypad is equipped with a backlight, and the phone is also equipped with an LED that lights up when receiving voicemail. The phone supports call forwarding and hold, allows you to assign 10 numbers to speed dial.

At the back there is a removable clip for hanging the phone on the belt. On the right side there is a 2.5 mm headphone jack covered with a rubber plug.

The battery is nickel-metal hydride, with a capacity of 550 mAh. This may be enough for a week of standby time and up to 7 hours of conversation.

The overall dimensions of the phone are 174 x 49 x 31 mm.
