The hacker received information about the new Tesla product - P100D
This is not a new electric car, but, most likely, a more advanced battery for it.
Now Tesla Model S comes with Li-Ion batteries of 70, 85 and 90 kWh. Maybe. more advanced batteries will soon appear. This was not told by representatives of Tesla at all, but by someone outside the company. This is Jason Hughes, an information security specialist who studied the new Tesla firmware. Now he claims that there are many interesting things, including references to the company's new product.
The craftsman himself considers himself a “white hat hacker” (that is, one who tests networks and computers, examining their performance and determining their vulnerabilities for hacking). Hacker claims to have learned the Tesla 7.1 firmware. He does not talk about everything that he discovered, believing that Elon Musk should talk about the news. But he decided to show some things.
@elonmusk @teslamotors #tesla I know your secret. SHA256 of best part: 5fc38436ec295b0049f186651ebba5fd55e8d7b81eb61cbd00d3f1bf18dd9c81

TheSHA256 hash was studied by other information security experts, and it turned out that "5fc38436ec295b0049f186651ebba5fd55e8d7b81eb61cbd00d3f1bf18dd9c81" is decrypted in "P100D".
After it became known about the decryption of the hash, the hacker posted this picture on Twitter.
You guys are great. Fun to get home and find people have cracked some SHA256 I posted;) Nice work. # P100D #Tesla pic.twitter.com/46iqA74ghB

He claims that references to the P100D appeared in the Tesla firmware 2 months ago. And the graphics were added in 2.13.77. The craftsman also reports the following: “There are other things in the firmware that I’m not ready to talk about publicly. I have been silent about the P100D for a long time. I will not spoil, telling about all the surprises of Tesla. "
In his twitter account, Jason (if his name is really that) turned to Ilon Mask, saying that they tried to remotely replace the firmware on his Tesla with version 2.12.45.
So, #Tesla is trying to retaliate by remotely commanding my car to downgrade to 2.12.45. I cut them off. @elonmusk @TeslaMotors A word?

And he answered him:
@ wk057 @TeslaMotors Wasn't done at my request. Good hacking is a gift.

This almost detective story is probably far from over.
