Wake up with the dawn

Like most of the inhabitants of our planet, I exist and work in a certain rhythm. This rhythm is set by sunrise and sunset, the employer, traffic jams and anything else. Therefore, the end time most often "floats". But awakening requires some kind of stimulus. This can be a squeak of an alarm, a phone call or sunrise. I want to talk about the artificial sun today.

In order to wake up, the body requires external or internal exposure. External factors include: sound, light, smell, tactile sensations. To internal: decreased melatonin and increased cortisol. Fluctuations in melatonin directly affect natural awakening. The production of melatonin is directly related to solar activity and is proven, including, for example, the blind. Therefore, a natural awakening with a gradual dawn is normal.
For myself, I noted several interesting ways of waking up: setting up the bread machine for the time of waking up. The aroma of bread spreads throughout the apartment and wakes up no worse than the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The sound can be attributed to a normal alarm clock call or turning on your favorite radio station at the right time. Here I recall an episode from the movie "Groundhog Day."

For a long time I used a program for a smartphone that tracks the phases of sleep and automatically selects the best moment to wake up within 30 minutes. Now I decided to try out a new way of waking up with a light alarm.

The idea of the device is that 5-20 minutes before the sound alarm goes off, the built-in lamp begins to gradually increase the brightness. The start time for turning on the backlight is selected independently and can be saved. And at the end of this period, a sound alert is triggered. There are as many as three sound options: radio, natural sounds or the usual buzzer.

The choice of the operating mode of the radio or the recorded sound is made by the switch on the right side. There is also a wheel for adjusting the frequency, a button for switching modes, and a key for temporarily disconnecting a call \ it is also a button for adjusting the brightness of the display.

At the back there is a speaker, and next to it is a jack connector for connecting an external sound source: it can be a phone or an mp3 player. This allows you to use the device as an external speaker to play sound from any source.

To the left of the screen are buttons for turning on the radio, the first and second alarms, daytime sleep and falling asleep, and also a volume control wheel. There, there is a four-position switch that allows you to enter the time editing modes and two alarms. It is very convenient to set two alarms if it is not possible to get up the first time, although the delay delay button pauses between calls for 10 minutes.

Now I will tell about the SLEEP and NAP modes.
SLEEP: Sleep mode with lights on and radio \ nature sounds. When you press this button, the sleep time decreases from 120 to 0 in increments of 10 minutes. At the end of the countdown, the lights go out and the sound mutes.
NAP: Daytime sleep mode works like an alarm clock with a short timer from 10 to 120 minutes and is set similar to SLEEP mode, except that the time in it rises, and when the set value is reached, the sound is turned on.

Back to the front panel. The main screen displays the time, date and operating modes of both alarms (sound / buzzer, as well as NAP and SLEEP modes, if they are active.
To the right of the display is a large backlight button. When pressed for the first time, it lights up white, the second time it goes into color mode the backlight is turned off during the third one. A

similar key is located to the left of the screen. In the white light mode, it switches the brightness mode (from 1 to 20), and in the color backlight mode it allows you to start the color “carousel” or stop at a specific color.

I must say that this is one of the few hours that save time after turning off the power. And all thanks to a pair of AAA batteries that are inserted into a suitable slot on the bottom of the case.

    Lighting and power consumption
The light source is an LED. The light temperature of its glow is close to ordinary scattered light, and the selection of brightness will allow you to choose a comfortable level for the eyes. A gradual increase in luminescence is designed to make awakening comfortable and natural, so that a way out of sleep is pleasant. The multi-colored mode is not frightening with acid paints, that is, there is no doubt about the quality of LEDs. And the durability of LEDs is measured in tens of thousands of hours, so it may well turn out that the alarm clock will be inherited more than once. Energy consumption is low, even compared to energy-saving lamps - only 8 watts.

    Conclusion
The alarm clock, after some getting used to it, nevertheless took a place on the bedside table next to the bed. I liked the completeness in it: everything is in place, everything works and does not even blind, thanks to the matte cap on the lamp. But there are no ideal devices, so I’ll add a fly in the ointment in the barrel of my positive impressions. The display is always backlit. Even taking into account the choice of backlight brightness (3 levels), at night it shines too brightly, so you have to turn the screen to the side. Of the four sounds of nature, only the 1st and 4th are similar to real ones, although my fighting cat ignored the cries of birds. The sounds themselves can be heard in the video below. And the third: the brightness of the lamp is regulated by pulses with a low frequency, so the flicker can be seen with the armed eye - it can also be seen in the video below. In ordinary life, this is manifested in that when reading a book on a tablet or phone, this flicker will be noticeable in all backlight modes except the brightest. In the ordinary view, this flicker is not visible, so no discomfort occurs.
Otherwise, this is a pretty decent, stylish and effective alarm clock, which is not a shame to put in your bedroom or give to friends. Well, you can find it here .
