ESA Space Agency uploaded new photos of comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko to the Network

Despite the fact that many have already begun to forget about the “great landing” of the apparatus created by human hands on the surface of the comet, scientists are still studying this object. Moreover, not all information is immediately opened by specialists - the delay is for weeks and months.
For example, just now, scientists are beginning to upload an archive of photos of Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko in high resolution. These photographs were taken by the OSIRIS instrument, WAC and NAC cameras between June 20 and September 16, 2014. This is the moment of approaching the comet and Rosetta entering its orbit.
The increase in detail of photographs is striking - as the apparatus approached the comet, the smallest details of the surface of the object began to appear. This is not surprising - after all, the apparatus from the initial many thousand kilometers to the comet approached it to a distance of 30 km. At such a distance, one can consider the most insignificant features of the surface structure of a celestial body.
By the way, photographs taken during this period of time were used to select the location of the Philae probe.
After the scientists processed the images and made sure that they meet the standards for adding to the archive, the photos were posted on the Web. In addition, other pictures will soon be posted. True, this will happen in 2016, at the end of January. These images promise to be even more interesting, as Rosetta took them from a distance of only 10 kilometers from the surface.

This is only part of the images, the full archive can be found here .
