According to rumors, Apple will abandon the headphone jack in the next iPhone
Japanese site Mac Otakara has published unconfirmed reports that the next iPhone in the seventh series will no longer have a headphone jack. IPhones are developing in the direction of decreasing thickness, and the connector for the plug by 3.5 mm is an international standard - thus, it interferes with the miniaturization process. Bluetooth and Lightning can take on the transfer of music.
A Japanese source claims that the new Lightning connector will be the same size as the current one, it will support special headphones, and also have a digital to analog converter so that you can use the adapter for standard headphones with it.
It is expected that the 7th iPhone will be a millimeter thinner than today's flagship Apple iPhone 6s with its 7.1 mm. The sixth generation iPod touch will also be about 6.1 mm thick, but they promise to keep the headphone jack. To support the new standard, Apple will allegedly release a new version of the branded EarPods headphones, with a Lightning connector.
Interestingly, in the summer of last year, Apple released specifications for the MFi program, which allowed third-party manufacturers to produce headphones that connect via a Lightning cable. This is not to say that manufacturers enthusiastically began to rivet such equipment - for example, Philips for 14 months released only two models of headphones with such a connector.
Believing rumors or not is everyone's business. But there are already examples of getting rid of smartphones from the standard plug for headphones. Chinese manufacturer Oppo has released the thinnest smartphone in the world: Oppo R5 has a thickness of only 4.85 mm. You can listen to music from it through a microUSB adapter or via Bluetooth.
The Lightning connector was introduced during Apple's special media event on September 12, 2012. It has become a more compact replacement for the previously used 30-pin connector. The connector allows you to transmit only digital signals. Unlike a 30-pin connector, it can be inserted into the device on both sides.
