By 2020, Japan will introduce Robotaxi

Few came as a surprise to Japan's intention to launch a whole network of robotic taxis Robot Taxi . For many years, the Land of the Rising Sun tested and improved autopilot cars and decided to use them for commercial purposes.



It is planned that the service will first be provided to about fifty residents of the city. Robotaxi will deliver citizens to the nearest grocery stores, as well as to distant public transport stops. Thus, the project will be implemented as an auxiliary tool for the elderly. On average, a car will be able to drive about three kilometers in one trip.



For safety reasons, the driver in the car's interior will observe the movement of Robotaxi. His task will be to prevent computer errors and determine the necessary improvements. By the 2020 Olympic Games, which will be held in Tokyo, it is planned to create a full-fledged network of autonomous taxis intended for tourists and guests of the capital.

At the moment, there is an active struggle for leadership in the market of autonomous vehicles. Experts say that by 2025 this industry will be valued at $ 1.36 trillion.
