Big Delta - the largest 3D printer in the world from Italy, capable of building houses

The Italian company WASP has created the world's largest 3D building printer. It is called Big Delta. The dimensions of the device are 12 meters in height and 6 meters in diameter. A system was created for the construction of residential buildings. According to the developers, the system consumes a minimum amount of energy, and at the same time it can print not only with concrete, but also with other materials, including clay.

Now the main task of the system is the quick construction of inexpensive houses. This can be useful, for example, in places where a natural disaster occurred, and many people lost their homes. In addition, such a printer is also suitable for developing countries where large volumes of housing are needed. According to the developers, Big Delta modifications will be able to work on other planets, creating houses for colonists, scientific bases and other buildings.

Last year, a prototype Big Delta 4.5 meters high was shown at one of the construction exhibitions. Now a full-fledged system has been put into operation, capable of kneading concrete or other materials by itself, using source soil, cement, fibers and chemical components. A small generator is enough for this system to work, since very little energy is consumed (in fact, we are talking about 100 Wh).

According to UN estimates, in the next 15 years around the world it will be necessary to build about 100,000 houses, as the world's population is growing all the time. WASP believes that by 2030, about 4 billion people will need additional housing, and the income of these people will be no more than $ 3000 per year. Using Big Delta, you can build a fairly high-quality housing very quickly, and this can solve many problems.

Now the company is already receiving requests for the possibility of using the system for the construction of various facilities in Europe and around the world. For example, an application for work with Big Delta was submitted by the municipality of Iglesias on the south coast of Sardinia. Developers are currently choosing places where it will be possible to test the building system in work.

By the way, the Chinese have already learned how to create housing in a similar way. Moreover, the cost of a single-family house in this case is about $ 4,800. However, so far this technology cannot be made widespread, due to a number of regulatory difficulties (in China). Everything is logical - after all, permissions of various kinds of commissions and services are needed, which need to make sure that the house does not fall apart in the first month after the tenants move in.
