This is a plane? Is it a bird? No, this is Volkswagen Futura

    Attention poll!

How often do you get the impression that this tricky thing about which they rapturously talk on TV has already been made by someone? So sometimes I get this feeling.
Leafing through the magazine "Youth Technology" for the 91st year, I came across a brief note about the latest Volkswagen model. Here is the entire note:

SOON AND THE DRIVER WILL NOT NEED?
The automobile company Volkswagen has developed its model of the 90s, the WV - Futura. The “nail” of the new design is an electronic steering wheel drive on all four wheels and a fully automatic parking system in a predetermined location using laser and ultrasonic sensors. And on the highway, the same sensors constantly measure the distance to neighboring cars and, with the necessary lead, give out a signal about dangerous proximity.

Having searched a little on the Internet, I found out: the concept had a diesel engine with a volume of 1715 cubic centimeters and a capacity of 82 horsepower. The total weight of the car is 1000 kg. A nice white interior with red stripes is attached.

I would like to note that, in general, the car is quite similar to the Tesla model X. Here you have a good electronic stuffing in the form of noise reduction systems, car parking, collision avoidance, etc., here are the doors “falcon wings” (though then they were called gull wings), progressive and a streamlined body design that reduces aerodynamic drag, a fairly low car weight and a large glazing area. Unless the engine is electric. In addition, the car instead of the usual radiator is cooled using an evaporation system! Apparently, this solution is designed to reduce drag, making the car more economical and less noisy.
But most of all, perhaps, I was attracted by the steering of the rear wheels.

Then it was a concept car. As you know, their fate is the same - to travel to exhibitions and polished beautiful women. But now, these technical solutions, even more daring, go into series.
    Diesel is replaced by electricity.
    Automatic parking? Autopilot!
Small LCD panel? Big touch console!

On the one hand, what is presented as innovation, in fact, has long been done by the old giants. But on the other hand, these giants, with all their resources, were afraid to give way to ideas and even working systems. And now, because of this, they run the risk of taking the position of catching up, which looks ridiculous.

What do you think, should Volkswagen put the car on the conveyor? Why dozens of developments by Nokia, Sony and many other giants did not see the light and occasionally experience a rebirth in the hands of their little competitors?
