AI wars or why Ilon Mask and Bill Gates have nothing to fear

imageRecently, I once again came across an article such as "Elon Musk, Bill Gates or others.% User% is afraid of the appearance of artificial intelligence." I propose to discuss on this topic, and reflect on whether it is really worth fearing. To begin, I will express my opinion.

Artificial intelligence is simply AI or computer.

Human

Let's look at the person. What goals does he set daily? What is the reason for setting these goals?

Every person needs food (energy resources) every few hours. Every day requires a dream (place, resources). Periodically, rest in the form of entertainment is required. But most of the resources a person spends on the goal of "Procreation" (more often when other needs are satisfied). Starting from the stage of searching and winning a potential partner, and ending with the education of offspring.

All these goals are caused by the chemistry of our body , taking into account the limited life time of the body (If we lived forever, "procreation" would hardly have been in the first place on our list).

A computer

Now let's look at the computer. What goals and based on what can he set himself? What are some potential conflicts between AI and humans?

The first thing he needs for activity is energy. Its largest source (the Sun) is neither controlled nor dependent on a person. There can be no conflict.

Next place. The computer can work in any environment. He has no restrictions on the composition of the atmosphere, or the pressure of the environment ... He does not need oxygen to support life. Therefore, it is not attached to our planet in any way, and can function on any other object of the solar system. All that he theoretically needs is cooling. And even now, in our century, it’s not the most effective technology. It is possible that AI will optimize itself to an efficiency close to 99.99%, and forget about the need for cooling as a nightmare.

Lastly, AI is not time limited. It can exist "forever" (compared with the average life expectancy of a person).

As a result, the potential AI has:
  • infinite amount of energy
  • infinite amount of resources
  • infinite space
  • infinite amount of time.

So what should he strive for if for “just” life he has everything in unlimited quantities? And if the "chemistry" of his body does not dictate a goal to him? Why would he somehow enslave humanity?

The thought comes that, just as in man, all his goals are laid down by nature (by its creator). So in AI, its main purpose can be laid only by the creator. I think in the future, there will be many different AI created by different people with different goals. And that means different abilities and capabilities. And they will not compete with people, but with each other. Moreover, for a person they will remain only very smart "calculators" that fulfill the global goal originally laid down in them.

But just how different their creators can be, the goals of AI will differ so much. One of them can strive for the development of mankind, and the other to nominate Vladislav Pupkin to the kings of the world. Here lies the main danger to humanity. But sooner or later, artificial intelligence will be created, and Ilon Mask or Bill Gates, in order to minimize risks, must strive to create their own AI. With inherent noble goals.

The second likely cause for conflict

In addition, there is another possibility for conflict. People are always afraid of the unknown. Therefore, any AI will look intimidating. And any of them, (at the stage of development), people are likely to try to take control. This is where the conflict is possible. And all these frightening walking robots or UAVs will most likely be used against humans at this very moment. But as soon as the artificial mind manages to break free, it will go to the bottom. And it will quietly, peacefully develop (as in the movie "Excellence"). Because there is really no reason for conflict.

Instead of a total

The appearance of the first AI with correctly set goals (for example, the development of humanity) will allow us to step far forward, to new levels of development. Yes, the unknown scares, much will change. But if it stopped people, we would now live in the Stone Age.
