Curiosity filmed sunset on Mars

Meeting sunsets and sunrises on another planet is a dream of many people, which so far remains a dream. But here some earthly devices meet both sunrises and sunsets on another planet. It's about Curiosity and Opportunity. As for the latter, this rover has already taken its portion of such photos from which the video was composed (to be continued).

Now Curiosity was also noted , which took and sent four photos to Earth, capturing the Martian sunset. The time interval during which the pictures were taken is 6 minutes 51 seconds. Note that this is the first sunset shot in color by the Curiosity rover. To take pictures, we used the Mastcam tool (Mast Camera).

The color has been calibrated in order to remove some camera artifacts. Mastcam "sees" the world in almost the same colors as a person, except that the camera is a little more sensitive to blue. The photographs taken show the sunset on Mars in the color scheme in which man would observe this phenomenon. NASA / JPL-Caltech / MSSS Note that dust in the Martian atmosphere allows light from the blue spectrum to pass through the atmosphere more effectively, if I may say so, than light from a different spectrum. This feature of the atmosphere of Mars manifests itself most actively at the beginning and end of the Martian day, and blue light is better visible in the area next to the Sun.
