Pedal rod for home appliances

Everyone knows how effective a bike is as a transport. A couple of minutes - and you drove a kilometer with a minimum of effort. For urban distances of up to about 8 km, it is also the fastest mode of transport, which overtakes both the car and the metro.

If the bike is so efficient, then why not use it not only as a transport, but also for other applications? For example, to launch household appliances? As the DIY experience of engineer Job S. Ebenezer has shown , a water pump, a circular saw, a mini-mill and other devices work perfectly on the pedal draft.

The design of the device he offers is extremely simple. It is only necessary to transfer the chain from the rear wheel to an additional unit, which is mounted on the frame.

If necessary, the chain is transferred from the wheel to the block and vice versa. A bicycle fully retains its qualities as a vehicle.

There is no intermediate stage in the form of electricity generation, so the efficiency of such a conversion is very high. It’s only a pity that you can only use the unit with devices where there is a torque element, so you won’t power any electrical appliance. However, at the cottage it is simply an irreplaceable thing: neither expensive engines, nor gasoline, nor electricity are needed. Just put the child on a bicycle - and he enjoys pedaling.

Job Ebenezer himself suggests that such cheap and versatile gadgets will be especially popular in poor countries in Africa. There, people often ride bicycles, electricity is in short supply and child labor is widely used, so pedal traction for the operation of equipment is simply ideal.
