The most wonderful thing in this headset is ViviTouch technology - according to the World Wide Web, it was developed by Bayer (inventors of aspirin, polyurethane, polycarbonate, levitra and ... heroin). What was done: the thin polymer films invented by the Germans simulate muscle movements under the influence of electric pulses. Mad Catz designers did not become original and continued to use the futuristic style, which had already brought success to the company's previous products. The combination of matte and glossy plastic looks spectacular until you start using the headset and grab it with your fingers (especially for those who like to chew on chips or similar things). Soiled is simply prohibitive, but, perhaps, this is the only claim to the materials.
The unusual shape of the ears does not cause inconvenience when using, ear pads made of high quality leatherette fit tightly and do not press.
You can adjust the length of the headband with almost medical accuracy, on a special scale with applied millimeter notches. My not the smallest head got into without problems, and not on the most advanced inserts. On the contrary, the minimum length of the headband is large enough and teenagers will most likely be uncomfortable wearing Mad Catz FREQ 4D. The
isolation is made at a very high level, while listening to Nirvana’s energetic immortal album “In Utero” at an average volume level, people only heard what was playing in the headphones some music, but quietly and without interfering with the household.
The control buttons are placed on the earphone cups. On the right are a microphone and an on / off button, as well as a volume control made in the form of a cylinder. The adjustment, by the way, is very accurate. that is, until you twist the sound to the maximum with your finger, you have to work.

Drivers are not required, because the built-in audio codec is activated, additional software is simply not provided. Any headset operating modes are implemented in hardware. In addition, the “vibrator” only works when connected via USB.
When connecting via a regular jack, you need to consider that the wiring is primarily intended for laptops, mobile phones and tablets. On the wire there is a call accept / end button and a mechanical volume control. The built-in equalizer does not work with this connection option.
The sound of the headset is decent for its category. You need to understand that this is not the Sennheiser HD-650 or something like that, for the inveterate music lovers Mad Catz has not prepared anything supernatural.
The three sound modes are different and really correspond to the names, my warm tube ear was most pleasant to listen to music (the above-mentioned Nirvana band) in Music mode, and in games with ViviTouch 4D turned on, the low frequencies were felt best. I would not use Mad Catz FREQ 4D in modes that are inconsistent with the scenarios, if you play music in the game mode there will be an obvious excess of low frequencies, but rather too many high frequencies.
