Scientists photographed the "Monster Maw" nebula

The images taken by the Hubble Orbital Telescope have not only scientific, but also artistic value. The telescope sent to Earth tens of thousands of photos that cannot be looked at without admiration. However, Hubble also has competitors, with ground-based ones. Namely, the European extremely large telescope .

Recently, astronomers got a very good picture of the cometary nebula CG4. Since this nebula is similar to the mouth of a serpentine monster (for comparison, you can take a worm from the “Dune”), this nebula is often called the “Mouth of the monster”. Some people also see not a mouth, but a palm, therefore another name for the nebula is “Hand of God”. The nebula is located at a distance of 1300 light years from Earth, in the constellation Korma.

The photograph shows the “head” of the nebula, its diameter is approximately one and a half light years. The nebula also has a tail, which, unfortunately. not visible in this photo. The tail length, according to experts, is one and a half light years.

Scientists have not yet concluded how such objects appear. One theory is that cometary nebulae come from spherical nebulae, which, for some reason, were “torn apart”. The second theory tells us that such nebulae are formed by stellar winds and hard radiation from hot stars, with the passage of several stages of "development", the final result of which are cometary nebulae.
