Review Xperia Z4 Tablet
We continue to acquaint you with the Sony summer news and this time we will talk about the new Andoird-tablet Xperia Z4 Tablet, which has become not only thinner and more powerful, but also got an absolutely incredible screen!

First impressions
The tablet seems even too thin and light for its size (in principle, it is the thinnest and lightest of ten-inch tablets). When you take it in your hands, you expect to feel a little more weight than it actually turns out. And it pleasantly surprises, I must admit. The case is made of a nice matte plastic - from the same as the miniature predecessor - Z3 Tablet Compact.

Unlike the latter, the “big brother” is nevertheless designed for horizontal use, so the few controls are located accordingly. The large round unlock button, which has already become a classic, is located on the left side, and the volume control is conveniently located next to it. On the upper edge there is a headset jack, as well as slots for a SIM card and a micro-SD flash drive covered with a plug. The micro-USB connector is located on the right side (exactly in the center) and now does not need a plug, like a headphone jack being waterproof. Thus, the number of plugs was reduced to one, and not so often opened. In principle, if you install a large memory card and use mainly cloud services or data transfer via USB / OTG, then this only stub can not be opened at all. The threats to water resistance have become even less! The magnetic charging connector has been discontinued as unnecessary.
The back wall, covered, as already mentioned, with matte plastic, contains the camera’s eye (without flash) and, in principle, nothing more. Despite the small thickness, the device is quite resistant to bending and looks very durable, we did not dare to evaluate the resistance to falls, and we do not advise you.

The first time you turn on, as usual, we are invited to connect to a wireless network, log in to a Google account, and if you already have, for example, a Sony smartphone (and not only Sony), you can transfer the basic settings from it when NFC help, for this it is enough to attach one device to another and wait a bit (well, enter a login with a password in order to avoid abuse).
Screen
Just say: the screen is impressive! The density and clarity of the image is simply unbelievable, and it’s impossible to notice pixelation even with very hard work. The resolution of 2560x1440 at ten inches is a lot, not to mention the excellent color rendering and no less excellent viewing angles - the IPS matrix allows you to see the image without the slightest fading at any tilt. There is enough brightness with a margin, so you can not set it to the maximum, and complete with anti-reflective coating allows you to conveniently use the device even in bright sunlight. Color reproduction (coverage is 97% of the sRGB palette, which is a very serious level) is very convincing and natural, without kinks and “acid” shades, in addition, if something doesn’t suit you, you can manually adjust the color scheme.

Camera
Tablets from Sony are traditionally equipped with modest but very high-quality 8-megapixel Exmor RS cameras, which should be familiar to long-time users of Xperia smartphones. As usual, the software responsible for the operation of the camera has both automatic and manual modes with the ability to select shooting conditions or independently adjust exposure, white balance, focus and metering modes. The camera starts almost instantly and there are no brakes when shooting. There is no LED flash, and the need for it is small. But more attention is paid to the front camera, which is used for video communication and self-portrait shooting - here it is five megapixel, with a low noise level, as well as various image enhancement modes such as Soft Skin. You can find examples of pictures below.

The front camera, like the new flagship smartphone Xperia Z3 + (as well as the recently released “selfie” Xperia C4) became wide-angle and five megapixel, acquired an LED flash and learned how to shoot Full HD-video, so now the “front camera” copes well not only with video calls, but also with self-portraits.
The sound of the
Z4 Tablet can be safely called one of the loudest tablets, at least in its category. Despite the moisture protection, which, as a rule, negatively affects the sound, the stereo speakers of the Z4 Tablet provide a very clear and clean sound, and there is enough excess volume, so you can not set it to maximum.
The device supports music in Hi-Res Audio format and, thanks to LDAX technology, allows you to play it not only through ordinary headphones and headsets, but also transfer to bluetooth devices. For those who prefer regular mp3 files, DSEE-HX technology is provided, improving the sound quality of compressed audio by restoring deleted frequencies. Not without its traditional enhancers such as integrated ClearAudio +, which combines a compressor, an exciter and a stereo expander. There is also a realistic mode for reproducing surround sound through speakers, a dynamic normalizer for the volume of tracks, as well as an active noise reduction mode when using the appropriate headset.

The tablet, of course, heats up under intense load, but it is quite tolerant and does not affect its work at all. Games with complex resource-intensive graphics, for example, the Asphalt and Need for Speed series, worked on the tablet without the slightest problem, without leading to strong heating, and certainly without stopping applications and reducing FPS.
Communication
A model with LTE support can be used not only for connecting to the Internet, but also for phone calls, the dialer application is the same as on smartphones, and you can use both speakers and a headset for talking. There were no complaints about the quality of the connection, and navigation, as usual, is beyond praise. It is also worth noting that the Z4 Tablet supports Cat6 LTE.
Autonomy
The battery capacity is 6000 mAh, that is, despite the decrease in the thickness of the case, they did not save on the battery and it remained the same as in the more "puffy" Z2 Tablet. At maximum load (that is, with the screen brightness completely turned off, active connections and a noticeable load on the iron, the device can work continuously for a little more than 6 hours, well, in normal mode, the charge lasts for 2-3 days, and the familiar STAMINA mode can significantly extend this time.
Software
The tablet comes preloaded with Android 5.0 and the traditional Sony branded shell, which we talked about the updated version some time ago. A set of pre-installed applications, at the moment, includes the traditional Office Suite, AVG antivirus, Garmin navigator, as well as a video editor, file manager and other useful things. Like the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, the new tablet is closely integrated with Sony Playstation 4 and can be used as an additional (or main) screen for the game.
conclusions
An incredibly light and thin tablet of the top category with impressive performance, an excellent screen, clear loud sound and very good autonomy. If your work does not have a tight binding to the operating system, the Z4 Tablet can quite successfully become a replacement for a traditional laptop, especially if you use a removable Sony BKB50 keyboard (which even has a familiar touchpad) or a stand-up cover with an adjustable angle of inclination SCR32.
