Lunar Race: SpaceIL Concludes Launch Contract

I listened to a conversation with the SpaceIL project participants - the landing of the Israeli device on the moon within the framework of Google Moon X Prize

    1. The idea to participate in the competition came with gatherings from whiskey
    2. The mass is small, therefore there is no acceleration and landing stage - all in one device
    3. They are the first of Google Moon X Prize participants signed a start-up contract - for 2017, a passing load from SpaceX (I also donated money for it)
    4. More than 30 people are working on the project, not counting volunteers, 20 of them are full-time
    5. Money from Israeli businessmen and firms, some firms help not den Gami and equipment. State money does not participate (Google Moon X Prize condition)
    6. A lot of logistics - for example, different permits for import, export - communication with mines of defense, etc.
    7. The main goal of the project - educational - they want to achieve the "Apollo effect" - when in the United States, after landing on the moon, the number of people who went to study engineering specialties sharply increased
    8. One professor from inst. Weiznam convinced them to turn on the scientific device - they will measure the magnetic field
    9. Due to the fact that there is not enough weight, there will be no rover, and to fulfill the Google Moon X Prize condition - to jump 500m they will fly up and take off
    10. Because that there is little weight there is no antenna orientation equipment - they will immediately set down at a certain angle - so that the solar batteries are on the Sun, and the antenna is on Earth
    11. If 20 million Google Moon X Prize win - they donate all the money for technical education in Israeli schools
    12. One of Google’s competitors, Moon X Prize, is going to become a lunar Fedex - to deliver cargo to the Moon at a cost of 80 thousand dollars per kg for money
    13. The grandfather of one of the founders of the project worked as a prisoner of a concentration camp on the production of FAU-2 rockets
