Aerial Burton has made a display projecting a 3D image directly into the air

By no means do I want to seem “yellow”, but in my opinion this is really a promising technology, since it does not need any surface for projection, only air and nothing more. The construction of volumetric images is carried out using a powerful infrared laser that generates pulses with a frequency of up to 1000 times per second. As a result of air ionization at the right points in space, we see bright points (pixels or voxels) that form a very clear 3D picture. Of course, holograms from science fiction are still far away, but in my humble opinion, if you increase the resolution and increase the frequency, you can achieve a quite worthy result.

    A picture to attract attention

The developers report that the product is being developed as commercial and one of the applications is to alert the public about certain dangers when there is no space or resources for other warning methods. The release of the first models is planned at the beginning of 2015. The main areas for improvement are compactization and increase in resolution.

By the way, it is worth noting that the installation is portable enough to move it on a pickup truck, or minivan.
