List of the easiest passwords: 2014

Once a year, lists of the simplest passwords used by Web users are stably published on the Web. The most interesting thing is that simple and duplicate passwords from account to account are used not only by inexperienced users, but also quite a pro. It's just too lazy for most to change the password to a more complex one.

This year, SplashData published its list of the simplest passwords. All data shown is used with the consent of users of the service. At Geektimes, it probably doesn’t make sense to warn about the dangers of such passwords - here everyone knows that. Let's just look at the list.

Perhaps it is not surprising that the tops took passwords such as 123456 and 12345, together with the word password. By the way, such passwords are often used even by advanced users - simply because they are passwords for services that are not critical for a person (well, for example, an account on the website of a newspaper, or a forum, or some other similar resource).

However, there are unique people who use very light combinations even for registration on services that contain information about the user's credit cards. But here, probably, no warnings will help. So, here it is, the full list:

    1. 123456

    2. password

    3. 12345

    4. 12345678

    5. qwerty

    6. 123456789

    7. 1234

    8. baseball

    9. dragon

    10. football

    11. 1234567

    12. monkey

    13. letmein

    14. abc123

    15. 111111

    16. mustang

    17. access

    18. shadow

    19. master

    20. michael

    21. superman

    22. 696969

    23. 123123

    24. batman

    25. trustno1

Interesting that passwords like "batman" or "dragon" are relatively new to SplashData - before users did not create such passwords.
