Personal experience: speeches and webinars of VAS Experts about SKAT, BRAS and SORM-3

    Today we have prepared another selection for you with lectures and webinars from our experts (you can find the last “compact digest” here ). This time we are talking about the features of SORM-3 implementation, the construction of BRAS based on SCAT DPI, as well as the pros and cons of IPv6. / The Flickr / the Best Picko / CC

    SCAT DPI 7.0 overview - SORM product roadmap

    We are talking about the functionality of SCAT 7.0. For example, the “focus” of this webinar was the Radius Accounting function. It allows you to use Radius to read information about how much traffic the subscriber consumes. We present a step-by-step algorithm for setting up Radius Accounting and note the limitations of using the function (for example, in which case you will have to configure the network stack).

    Another new feature is GRE tunneling through NAT. One of its capabilities is to set a limit on the number of TCP and UDP connections for a pool of IP addresses. This allows the operator to save resources when allocating address space between corporate and private clients. We will also talk about how to activate IPv6 support, and talk about the implementation of BRAS in VAS Experts.

    What else is discussed in the presentation:

    • step-by-step CG-NAT configuration algorithm;
    • CG-NAT translation logging (when to use);
    • types of SORM and plans for developing this solution.

    Preparation of a network of a communication operator for the implementation of SORM-3

    In this webinar we will touch upon the main problems that the operator may encounter when implementing SORM. We will pay special attention to SORM-3 and its differences from previous versions. We will also talk about how to choose the SORM-3 solution: to study the information storage period, the possibility of an upgrade, the way to implement FZ-374.

    Note what needs to be done to comply with the requirements of the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on approval of the interaction of telecom operators with government agencies (PP538).

    Other webinar topics:

    • pitfalls in the automated unloading of data from legal entities in SORM;
    • changes in PP538;
    • implementation of SORM-3 (“into the gap” and “to the mirror” schemes).

    SCAT DPI-based BRAS: Features of Interaction with Billing

    Presentation in two parts. In the first, we talk about the advantages of BRAS technology with DPI: traffic policing, multi-user functions (when many IP addresses or subnets “hide” behind a single login) and white lists with zero balance.

    The second part of the webinar covers the sharing of BRAS and billing. We will talk about the advantages of such integration and the solutions, schemes and authentication methods that LANBilling offers.

    What else is in the presentation:

    • pros and cons of IPv6;
    • how to configure BRAS;
    • L2-BRAS and L3-BRAS authentication methods from LANBilling;
    • service management through binding of Radius attributes.

    Changes to the method of uploading lists from Roskomnadzor

    The purpose of this webinar is to consider changes to the method of uploading lists from Roskomnadzor. We explain the features of the previous method, highlight its pros and cons. Then we will discuss the new method (uploading only changes - Delta), as well as its advantages (uploading by login and password, reducing the time for preparing lists) and disadvantages (increasing the requirements for response time and maintaining an digital signature).

    What other topics are discussed in this webinar:

    • automated unloading mechanism according to the new method (in 1–5 minutes);
    • Three options for uploading a list from VAS Experts
    • how SCAT DPI providers will help;
    • traffic filtering based on SCAT DPI;
    • blocking different types of records using SCAT.
