OpenStreetMap conferences in 2017
- Transfer
From a translator: the OpenStreetMap project is developing dynamically, more participants are joining. In foreign countries, conferences are held at which they discuss what has been done and what remains to be done. There are many OSM participants in Russia, but a local community has yet to be created.
Happy New Year ! The past 2017 was a busy year for OpenStreetMap. In communities around the world, not only the stunning State of the Map conferences have been organized, but also many meetings, cart marathons, cartographic parties, seminars, and much more that bring us cartographers together to make the essence of OpenStreetMap feel.
The State of the Map (SotM) conference is the annual international OpenStreetMap conference. OrganizedOpenStreetMap Foundation , it has been held every year since 2007 (except for 2015). There are also many other regional and local conferences called “State of the Map”. Please note that these regional SotMs are organized exclusively by local teams that run their own sponsorship programs and have separate budgets from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. The main goal of these conferences is to become a platform for the exchange of information and experience between old and new or potential users.
In this review, we also included some non-SotM conferences, but OpenStreetMap also pays a lot of attention to them.
