Google hires specialists in the project of an unmanned car

In the near future, unmanned vehicles may occupy a significant market share, and while they are being tested by some large technology giants. If Tesla has already released some analogue of similar functionality for the latest generation of cars, then Google is only developing its own car.

To develop such a project requires a large number of specialized employees - recently Google opened a set of 36 specialists in the Google X project. Among open vacancies there are open for engineers related to the development of robot systems, new sensors and other related elements.

In the list of duties of vacancies there is a description for marketing staff, analysis of the use policy from the point of view of legislative practice. Such a number of open vacancies may indicate that Google is actively starting to develop this direction.

“The project of an unmanned car is aimed at improving the quality of life and the safety of movement of most people, regardless of their driving abilities. At the moment, our unmanned vehicles have traveled more than 1.2 million kilometers in California, ”the description of some vacancies says.

Google is not the only one in this market - Tesla is engaged in the development of unmanned vehicles along with other companies. The main advantage of the latter is the availability of well-established car production, while Google will only have to enter this market.

Other players such as General Motorsand others are only actively investing in the development of unmanned vehicles. However, at exhibitions such as CES and others, the emphasis is now on the development of new unmanned vehicles. The main problem for the release of the first ready-made solutions is the legislation of the countries - local authorities are often not ready to certify unmanned vehicles due to the lack of adequate testing mechanisms. In addition, a couple of years usually pass from the first test to obtaining permission to start sales.
