Co-owner of Mail.Ru invested in a 3D scanner for mobile devices

    Startup Occipital was founded in 2008. In four rounds of investment, the company raised twenty-one million dollars from six investors.

    Investors of Occipital in the fourth round are venture funds Foundry Group, Grishin Robotics, Intel Capital, Shea Ventures. As part of the round, the startup raised $ 13 million. The share of the Dmitry Grishin fund is not specified.

    Occipital has developed the world's first 3D space scanner for mobile devices. Device Structure Sensor works with the iPad, it allows you to scan the surrounding area and simulate it in your application. The technology can be used in augmented reality games and for application development. The device costs from 379 dollars.

    In 2013, Occipital launched a campaign on Kickstarter to implement the project.. In the first three hours, the project raised one hundred thousand dollars. For the entire campaign, three and a half thousand backers gave the project one million three hundred thousand dollars.
