Mary Meeker, partner at Kleiner Perkins Venture Fund Caufield & Byers published the results of a study of the dynamics of the number of Web users. The results of the report published by Meeker indicate a slowdown in Internet audience growth, Vedomosti writes .

So, in 2014, the number of Web users reached 2.8 billion. This is about 39% of the total population of the Earth. At the same time, the growth of the Internet audience in 2014 was 8%, compared with 2013. At the same time, the Internet audience growth rate in previous years was higher: 10% for 2013 and 11% for 2012. And now, and then the developing countries were the main source of new Internet users.

For example, in 2014 in India, the number of Web users increased immediately by 33%, compared with 2013. In China, a similar indicator was 7%, in the USA - 2%, in Brazil - about 4%. It is logical that the majority of Web users are in Asia. Without China, the number of users in Asian countries is 28% of all network users. In China - 23%. In Europe - 19%, in the USA - 10%, and in all other regions - another 21% of users.

It is worth noting that an increasing number of people go online through smartphones. And now 5.2 billion people are mobile phone users, which is 73% of the world's population. 40% of this audience use smartphones. Thanks to the large number of smart phone users, traffic from mobile devices is growing. So, in 2014, growth immediately amounted to 69%.

Russia is in the top 15 countries in terms of the number of mobile subscribers. In the Russian Federation, about 23% use smartphones.
