The State Duma proposed to ban the storage of personal data on foreign servers

imageState Duma Vice-Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak proposed enacting a law requiring the deployment of servers on the territory of Russia with personal data of Russian citizens and official information of government authorities, as well as support domestic electronic production and the development of its own software.

“We must seriously protect both the information of our citizens and the information of our country. This can only be realized if the network and server equipment containing personal data and information of our official bodies is located on the territory of the Russian Federation, within our jurisdiction, so that various spies, intelligence services and fraudsters cannot take advantage of the difference in legislative approaches and not respond to the questions that our investigation and justice have, ”said Zheleznyak.

“I propose this to be implemented in the framework of legislative initiatives and, if possible, to adopt them already. Also (I propose) to support at the state level the Russian electronic industry and software. We ourselves must create information products, and not use strangers, ”said Zheleznyak.
He noted that in the modern world, Russia must ensure its "digital sovereignty," RIA Novosti reports.

“The world has changed, today information is more important than ever and is a key condition for success,” said Zheleznyak.

“The Americans reproach us for suppressing the propaganda of sodomy among children and at the same time they put their noses in the personal correspondence of tens of millions of Russian citizens. The amazing duplicity of the Pharisees of these Western democracies, which, on the one hand, urge us to respect the law, respect human rights, confidential information, and on the other hand, unceremoniously climb and steal the information of our citizens, ”said Zheleznyak.

In the Constitution of the Russian Federation, he said, the right to privacy is recorded, to privacy of telephone conversations, correspondence, a direct prohibition without a court order to collect, store, use and disseminate information about privacy, the same principles are recorded in the laws of other countries, but "in practice we are faced with a flagrant violation of human rights."

“The US, which represents itself as a bulwark of democracy, is in fact monitoring every minute for tens of millions of citizens, including citizens of Russia and other states. In this ugly story, all the main companies that are created in the USA are involved, and these companies really operate in our country, ”said Zheleznyak.

“It is significant that none of the Russian human rights defenders said a word in defense of the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens whose private correspondence has been violated,” said Zheleznyak.

He noted that in the law enforcement sphere it is necessary to protect our citizens from the actions of intelligence services of other countries: "This is our strategic task in the 21st century, and we must do everything so that our citizens feel protected."

In early June, CIA ex-agent Edward Snowden spoke about a secret electronic tracking program for users of Internet companies and social networks, code-named PRISM, which is conducted by the FBI and the NSA.

For several years these structures have direct access to the servers of Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Skype, YouTube, PalTalk, AOL and Apple.

Now the ex-CIA officer is hiding in Hong Kong. If he is transferred to the United States, he faces a life sentence for the disclosure of classified data. Ecuador agreed to grant asylum to Snowden.
