Hello!
In this article, we present the long-awaited news and announcements about Xamarin from the last Build 2016 conference .
As you may recall, in previous publications we already told you about Xamarin joining Microsoft. This momentous event was also highlighted at the opening of the annual Microsoft developer conference. If you missed Scott Guthrie's talk about the future of Visual Studio and Xamarin, the entry is available here .
So, we will go through the main announcements and move on to the details:
- Microsoft has made Xamarin cross-platform development tools available free of charge to all editions of Visual Studio , from the free community distributed to the most advanced product configuration in the Enterprise version.
- Opening the Xamarin core - the Xamarin SDK as an open source project.
- Convenient use of Xamarin services (Test Cloud, XamarinU, etc.) when building DevOps processes for developing mobile applications on the Microsoft platform.
You can start using Xamarin now:
For Visual Studio 2015 or Visual Studio 2013, just download the Xamarin installer for Windows . If this is your first time installing Visual Studio 2015, download the latest version of Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 , which already includes Xamarin tools. Similarly, when you install Visual Studio “15” Preview , Xamarin tools will become available automatically.
